Overview

Joining the CLL team responsible for creating extensive language learning content across 29 languages was a pivotal moment in my career. The OLS project emerged as one of the most challenging yet rewarding experiences I encountered. In my role as graphic designer, I engaged in multiple facets of the project, including content creation, branding, video production, visual guidelines, and interface design. Navigating the demands of the client, the European Commission, required a strategic approach to ensure that all expectations were met.

Approach

To tackle the intricacies of what we affectionately termed the "coefficient 29," I dedicated myself to discovering innovative strategies that streamlined our processes. A significant achievement was the development of a comprehensive module content document, serving as a vital resource for learners, our team, and the client. Given the need to replicate this document 29 times for each of the two levels covered in the course (A1 and A2), totaling 58 documents, manual creation was impractical. To address this, I designed a solution using Figma designs linked to a spreadsheet. Although the setup required a time investment, the outcome—a single-click update for the entire document—proved invaluable.

Results

This forward-thinking approach not only saved time but also ensured both consistency and accuracy across all module documents. By refining the workflow, I could concentrate more on the creative aspects and deliver a polished final product that adhered to the stringent guidelines set by the European Commission. The OLS project became a significant highlight of my professional journey, reinforcing my ability to navigate complex challenges while leveraging technology for enhanced efficiency.
